At Saint Gabriel School, we believe that a Catholic education should be accessible to all families who seek it. To support our mission, we offer scholarship opportunities and tuition assistance for families who demonstrate financial need.
Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Tuition Grants
The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Tuition Grant provides financial assistance to families within the Archdiocese of Hartford who need support in enrolling or retaining their children in a Catholic elementary or middle school.
Timothy Jon O’Brien Scholarship Award
The Timothy Jon O’Brien Scholarship Award is an annual tuition assistance scholarship given to one or more families to help cover the cost of a Saint Gabriel School education. This scholarship provides long-term support, continuing from 1st grade through 8th grade, as long as the student and family continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
Eligibility Requirements:
✅ Student must be entering 1st grade in the upcoming school year.
✅ Family must be active members of a Catholic Church.
✅ Demonstrated financial need (must be reviewed annually).
✅ Student must maintain good academic standing (passing grades or better).
✅ Student must demonstrate good character and have no disciplinary issues.
✅ Family must remain enrolled at Saint Gabriel School.
Scholarship Award:
- Maximum award: $2,000 per child.
- Scholarship continues through 8th grade, provided all eligibility criteria are met each year.
The Timothy Jon O’Brien Scholarship Award is a meaningful investment in our students' future, ensuring that they can receive a strong academic and faith-based education at Saint Gabriel School.
Priore Trust Scholarships
The Priore Trust Scholarship provides tuition assistance to families with students in Grades 1 – 8 at Saint Gabriel School.
Eligibility Requirements:
✅ Student must have completed at least one full year of enrollment at Saint Gabriel School (Kindergarten or above).
✅ Family must demonstrate financial need (must be reviewed annually).
✅ There are no parish or religious affiliation requirements—all eligible families may apply.
Scholarship Award:
- Maximum award: $1,000 per child.
- Scholarship is awarded annually based on financial need and available funds.
Children’s Educational Opportunity Foundation of Connecticut (CEO)
The Children’s Educational Opportunity Foundation of Connecticut (CEO) provides equal access to accredited private, parochial, religiously-affiliated, or non-residence public schools by awarding scholarships of up to $2,100 per year.
Eligibility:
✅ Open to any family in Connecticut that meets CEO’s financial eligibility requirements.
✅ Parents are responsible for the remaining tuition balance.
Scholarship Award:
- Up to $2,100 per year per child.
- Families must apply directly through CEO's application portal.
Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools (FACS)
Founded in 1983, the Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools (FACS) is dedicated to supporting and assisting Catholic schools by providing funding for scholarships and special projects. Completed applications – along with required supporting documents - are due to the FACS by Friday, March 7, 2025, but in order to allow time for Mrs. Schuler and Mr. Conlin to complete the "Principal Certification" of each application, we ask that all applications be returned to the Office of either Campus as soon as possible. We will then hand deliver completed applications to the FACS office by the March 7 deadline.
Eligibility:
✅ Open to families attending Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford.
✅ Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and academic performance.
Scholarship Award:
- Funded through generous donors who believe in the value of Catholic education.
- Scholarship amounts vary based on available funding and family need.
FACS strongly believes that Catholic schools provide an "education for a lifetime", and their scholarships help ensure that more students can experience the benefits of a Catholic education.
The following is a full list of Scholarship Available with important (but not all) criteria noted:
- Hartford Endowed Scholarship: For students residing in the City of Hartford.
- Salvatore Robert Verrillo Scholarship: Open to families with at least two students enrolled at the same Archdiocesan Catholic Elementary School located in Hartford County.
- FACS Grant Scholarship: For students whose parents/guardians are Catholic Educators or staff at Saint Gabriel School.
- Michele and Donald D'Amour Scholarship: two $500.00 scholarships for students at Saint Gabriel School.
